General Software

General software for the Microsoft Windows operating system. Many of these applications were designed as there were times when working on other user's computers where I required information / tools but I did not want to install major applications to their machine. They can be run off memory sticks, CD / DVD's and even floppy disks if required, although an automated setup procedure is included which registers the install with the "Add/Remove" control panel applet for easy removal. All applications below do not use the Registry and require minimal system resources (memory / hard drive space.

G.I.F.T. Booter

G.I.F.T. Booter is an application to create graphical "auto run" menus for CD's / DVD's. Any bitmap, GIF or JPG file can be used, and hotspots can be defined to perform actions when a region of the image is clicked on. It provides functions to access the MS Windows shell so that any file type registered with the user's operating system can be activated automatically, and also includes several special codes for items such as "minimise", "maximise / restore", and "Browse CD with Explorer".

G.I.F.T. CD Lister

G.I.F.T. CD Lister works in the background to record the contents (files / folders) when a CD / DVD is inserted into a drive which allows files located on removable media to be cataloged. It stores the file details under the volume name of the CD / DVD, and includes three user definable fields which can be used to record the physical location where the media is stored. As all of the attributes of the files / folders are also stored, it can be locate the latest version of a specific file.

G.I.F.T. Character Map

G.I.F.T. Character is a small application to view the characters using a specific font, and to create selections of characters with different attributes and styles, for pasting into applications that do not natively provide this functionality.

G.I.F.T. Colour

Application for selecting colours from either, the screen, an image file, or by entering various Red Green Blue / Hue Saturation Luminance values. Palettes can be created and saved for use within Paint Shop Pro.

G.I.F.T. Converter

Application to convert between units of various measurement systems. Includes an editor to create customised conversions. Includes all of the common conversions and constants. Conversions can be either formula based or simple numeric values.

G.I.F.T. Font

G.I.F.T. Font is an application to manage and view groups of True Type Font files without having to install them into the MS Windows operating system.
There are six main panels with three being devoted to the location of fonts / font groups, two devoted to viewing the selected in various manners, and one for setting the options / preferences.

Application to record and analyse a persons dietary intake and exercise regime. Includes databases of foods, and food additives and their properties.

G.I.F.T. Geek Speak

There are thousands of computer related terms, and, as many of them do not adhere to the standard definitions for acronyms / abbreviations, locating their meaning can be a minefield for both novice and professional computer users. G.I.F.T. Geek Speak is a one stop alternative to locating these terms. It requires minimal system resources and runs on any MS Windows operating system from 95b onwards.

G.I.F.T. Javascript Sourcerer

G.I.F.T. Javascript Sourcerer is a source code editor for "Javascript", "Cascading Style Sheets" and "Hyper Text Markup Language" files. It supports syntax highlighting, code completion, and a variety of tools for entering functions, objects and reserved words.

G.I.F.T. Runner

G.I.F.T. Runner creates groups of programs / folders / files that can be executed simultaneously. Applications can have command line switches specified, and data files are loaded with the application that is registered for that particular file type.

Application for viewing text based tabular data. Uses minimal system requirements and comes with a large selection of common tables (many of the tables from the data section of this site are included).

G.I.F.T. World Clock

Application showing the time zones in up to 9 different locations. It can be minimised to the System Tray where all times can be viewed using the "pop up" menu. Also included a database of over 700 geographic locations.
